Value Investing...

Yes Guys... I officially pronounced the methods thought by THE SECRETS work! After days and days of "attracting", I managed to find the book -- "The Little Book on Value Investing". And it was the last book on the book store. How facinating! Recently I tried the method to attract, well, just some simple things like getting a parking space, which is near to any of my destination. (Damn lazy to walk nowadays) Hey, I got the best space 9 out of 10 times. Not bad. Okay guys, maybe you all can practice a bit and see wheather it work or not.

Ok, back to the book on value investing. Summary -- Fine but not so great!

Why would i say that? Coz it is very similar to what Warren Buffett would say.
Buy LOW AND SELL HIGH. (I know that, but when is low or high) Well, do some research and find low price to book value with a low price to earning ratio. Hmm... the problem is I do not know how to really calculate the actual price to book value. He don't really tell us the exact way to calculate it or any example to show us. Presuming we all are share market whiz. I am not a share market expert. Therefore, I don't know the way. So now I have to learn to calculate it by asking around. Guess what... you will have different sets of value depending on which method or financial year you used. Great! I'm even more confused right now!

Anyone out there know how to calculate correctly the price to book value? Because I am stuck.
I am now looking into a few stocks in Malaysia to practice what the book is teaching.

Will post the share one by one ... Stay tune... (not so easy to do this research you know)

Bye...

Life Plan and Goals

It has been many months since I updated this blog. A lot has happen during these past few months. However I will not comment yet on what have happened in my country but glad on how my country has progressed in terms of politics and people maturity. This is a little update on what I have done past few months.

I have written down my goals. It is a long and pain staking work, plus it is also kinda mortifying experience for me. The reason being I discovered how I am lacking behind on my initially plan. This also serves as a refresher on what I have planned for previously.

From the book “I am gifted, so are you!” I learned to prepare a LIFE PLAN. Well, it is kind like what you want to experience through out your life. I had prepared my life plan. Being an introvert and shy person, I will not post up my life plan =P.

First, put up your age, preferably 10 years [e.g. from 28 to 38]. Then under the age, you can separate your goals into few groups like your career, family, self-improvement and etc. And have sub goals under the different groups. Of cause you have to review your goals maybe once a month and change it accordingly. A tough job if you ask me. I have trouble doing it myself, but have to persevere for my future sake.

I will just show the segment on my self-improvement goals [end of year 2008]:
a) Internet Business [earning RM 50/ month]
b) Blog [obtain 20 hits per day] - so, I will update my blog more regularly, at least once a month, but do help me out…. Please, =P
c) Find idea and prepare a framework to write a book! [Don’t laugh ok, starting this blog is an exercise for me to write better]
d) Find a set of 10 value investing counters [will dwell on it latter]

There you are, simple and clear goals. When preparing goals, it is important to write as precise as possible. For example, earn in internet business, however, how much you want to earn? That is why writing down as clear and as precise is good. Plus the year or age serve as a time frame for you. SO good goals must have DATE, NUMBERS and BE PRECISE.

Ok, that is the end on section on making goals. Goals help me to focus myself on my mundane lifestyle which is wake up, work, sleep, wake up, work, sleep, wake up……. for 365 days! Pathetic…

Side Track ..

Haven't been updating the blog. Was not able to do it because want to do the things thaught on the book before putting it down on the blog. Not easy because of the responsibility I have in life and the limited time we have in our life. 24 hours where got enough!? HAHA...

I just lost a worker. She has been working here for only 1 week and she no longer want to continue. I was just asking her to buck up and the pressure was so minimal and she say she want to stop because she can't take the pressure. I was dumb strucked! This is an enourmous pressure for her?! My goodness. What on earth has Malaysian becoming! Well, what shaped her to become to her sorry state is due to her parents. Her parents give her too much protection until she no longer able to fend for herself or taking responsiblity. Well, I don't want to talk too much about my job in this blog as I want this blog to focus on the motivation technique to further improve our lifes.

I guess we should be more independent. This is what make us strong and what make make us mature over time. Our parents can't be at our side for so long. We should and must be responsible for our own action. Fxxk man! I lost my one and only worker! Have to find a new one! Damn! I hate this man! Good people is hard to find nowadays!

Next blog is on Goals Setting and Life Plan. Doing one myself and it take me some time. Haha.

Small Tips On 'Time Management'

Time is gold! To me, time is more valuable than gold.

Sometimes when I find some articles on time management, I would cut it down and keep it. Below is a small summary and tips on time management. It is very basic and simple. However if you apply part of it and if it manage to save 1 minute per hour, that is already good enough. 'ONE MINUTE ONLY MAH!?' you would say. 1 minute per hour, after a day you would save 12 minutes, after one month you would able to save a day ! After a year, you would have extra 12 days just by saving 1 minute per hour! How good is that?! Imagine saving 2 minutes per hour! I let you do the math!

A) Keep a diary: This is not about writing down what happen everyday, but a book to keep you organized. Being disorganized is also a reason for time wastage.

B) List Task; Prioritize them; and Schedule them: Apart from that, try to make a list not more than 5 tasks. Make 5 additional tasks once it is completed. You will have a sense of accomplishment and this drive you to work even more.

C) Say NO when required: A hard thing to do but a streesed-up people with many things on their mind could not assert themselves. This helps to cut down your work load while help to focus yourself on the job on hand.

D) Decide which task need attention to detail: No everything you do need to be particular in detail. However, focus on things or task where details is really needed. This can help to focus your attention to things that matter most.

E) Allotting additional time (about 10% to 20% more) when doing a task as you won't be too anxious and decision making under such condition is better.

This is only a small tip on helping you to save time. You can employ other habits to save more time, so happy hunting. Thank you.

"I am gifted, so are you!"

Able to find some precious time to go to the book store the next day. However, could not find a single book on the list. I was so frustrated. Due to time constrain, I brought 2 books of my concern and interest. 1) Ziglar on selling by Zag Ziglar and 2) I am gifted, so are you! by Adam Khoo.

Was a bit of disappointed when started to read 'I am gifted, so are you!' because it is all about how and what students must do to achieve good grades. I was like Oh My Gosh! But as I read on, I find huge similarities on certain principles taught by certain GURUs being written on the book. The interesting thing is he wrote it in a way suited for students! This really got me thinking and I continue to read on. Besides that, I can treat this as a revision for me on certain principles I forgotten to apply.

I finished reading the first section. It is about Belief and Self-confidence. Nowadays, this is what people are really emphasizing on in alot of self-help and motivational books. They want people to have a right mind set before they drill in any information or lessons. One of the reason is most people have a wrong mind frame. They will tend to blame everything except themselves. They will blame lack of opportunity, not good enough, not smart enough, or even worst the weather for any failure they encounter in life. This is common because it is simpler to blame others rather than they themselves. It is a troublesome job to take responsibility on anything that did not go smoothly in life.

Come to think of it, I belong to the 'blaming' group. It is definately easy to blame others when things are not going smoothly. Kinda sad when i want to drop the blaming game and take responsibility on whatever the outcome of my life is. Haha... It is kinda pain in the ass to be responsible for everything.

Belief is just an opinion! Remember that everyone. When you believe you can, you will put in 100%, if not 80% to achieve it. Then with practice, everything will become easier and simpler. Then it will become a fact that you can. So when you believe you can't, you will not do anything and definately you can't! Haha... easier said than done. Then again, it is not harmful or expensive to just apply this technique. So, here goes, I believe I AM A MILLIONAIRE BY AGE OF 35! Haha... Wait another 10 years and I will inform you the effectiveness of this believing thing.

Enough said and elaboration. This is the summary and lesson from the first section:
1) There are different stratergies, hence different results in achieving anything! So, just search for the stratergy that works wonders and stick to it no matter how many failure feed back(lesson 2) you encounter.

2) 5 Good and helpful believes:
a) For things to change, I must change!
b) No FAILURE, only feedback!
c) If others can, I CAN TOO!
d) Be flexible and open-minded to new ideas!
e) Life is a GAME, play hard to WIN!

3) Have a WINNER mindset and take responsibility for everything you do.

4) Get more good beliefs because of (Belief => Action => Tapping your Potential => Results)

That is all and thank you for the few previous comments.

Does Self-Help Books Help?

This is a very subjective question because everything boils down to the person that is reading the book.

Personally, self-help books may have helped me in many ways. However, these books only help if I apply the principles or lessons being taught. One of the most silly example is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, my life became more orderly or should I say "more effective" when I applied his principles of personal management. Well, I can say I managed to stay 'focused' and applied his principles for 6 months, then, everything fizzled and I became "less effective" as a person. HAHA... After a few more months, my gulit kicked in and I became "more effective" again and this become a cycle. This is a torturous cycle because of the 'guilt' part and emotional strain I'm giving to myself. I guess I need to reread the part on personal vision and personal leadership to get my act together.

This is also one of the reason for me to write this blog. To :
A) Stay FOCUS and don't become LAZY on applying the principles learned
B) Remember the lesson I learn from self-help books and apply it diligently

Therefore, the answer to the above question is : "it helps if you apply it!"

Now I am going to read the book complied by a motivational speaker. Her name is Wendy Kwek. The blog is www.wendykwek.com. A note: I am getting no credit for mentioning her.
The list is :
1)The Little Book on Value Investing
2) Influence - The power of persuasive influence - Robert Ciadini
3) Power of Now - Ekhart Tolle
4) How to Heal Your Life
5) Automatic Millionaire
6) Science of getting Rich
7) Secrets of Millionaire Mind - Harv Eker
8) The Richest Man in Babylon
9) The courage to be Rich - Suze Orman
10) The One Minute Millionaire - Robert Allen, Mark Victor Hansen

I am going to buy these books and read it. That is part of my 2008 resolution! 1 book per month and the principles will be written down and the effects of applying this principle will be written down as well.

That is all for today. Tomorrow better buy one of the book.
