"I am gifted, so are you!"

Able to find some precious time to go to the book store the next day. However, could not find a single book on the list. I was so frustrated. Due to time constrain, I brought 2 books of my concern and interest. 1) Ziglar on selling by Zag Ziglar and 2) I am gifted, so are you! by Adam Khoo.

Was a bit of disappointed when started to read 'I am gifted, so are you!' because it is all about how and what students must do to achieve good grades. I was like Oh My Gosh! But as I read on, I find huge similarities on certain principles taught by certain GURUs being written on the book. The interesting thing is he wrote it in a way suited for students! This really got me thinking and I continue to read on. Besides that, I can treat this as a revision for me on certain principles I forgotten to apply.

I finished reading the first section. It is about Belief and Self-confidence. Nowadays, this is what people are really emphasizing on in alot of self-help and motivational books. They want people to have a right mind set before they drill in any information or lessons. One of the reason is most people have a wrong mind frame. They will tend to blame everything except themselves. They will blame lack of opportunity, not good enough, not smart enough, or even worst the weather for any failure they encounter in life. This is common because it is simpler to blame others rather than they themselves. It is a troublesome job to take responsibility on anything that did not go smoothly in life.

Come to think of it, I belong to the 'blaming' group. It is definately easy to blame others when things are not going smoothly. Kinda sad when i want to drop the blaming game and take responsibility on whatever the outcome of my life is. Haha... It is kinda pain in the ass to be responsible for everything.

Belief is just an opinion! Remember that everyone. When you believe you can, you will put in 100%, if not 80% to achieve it. Then with practice, everything will become easier and simpler. Then it will become a fact that you can. So when you believe you can't, you will not do anything and definately you can't! Haha... easier said than done. Then again, it is not harmful or expensive to just apply this technique. So, here goes, I believe I AM A MILLIONAIRE BY AGE OF 35! Haha... Wait another 10 years and I will inform you the effectiveness of this believing thing.

Enough said and elaboration. This is the summary and lesson from the first section:
1) There are different stratergies, hence different results in achieving anything! So, just search for the stratergy that works wonders and stick to it no matter how many failure feed back(lesson 2) you encounter.

2) 5 Good and helpful believes:
a) For things to change, I must change!
b) No FAILURE, only feedback!
c) If others can, I CAN TOO!
d) Be flexible and open-minded to new ideas!
e) Life is a GAME, play hard to WIN!

3) Have a WINNER mindset and take responsibility for everything you do.

4) Get more good beliefs because of (Belief => Action => Tapping your Potential => Results)

That is all and thank you for the few previous comments.

Does Self-Help Books Help?

This is a very subjective question because everything boils down to the person that is reading the book.

Personally, self-help books may have helped me in many ways. However, these books only help if I apply the principles or lessons being taught. One of the most silly example is 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, my life became more orderly or should I say "more effective" when I applied his principles of personal management. Well, I can say I managed to stay 'focused' and applied his principles for 6 months, then, everything fizzled and I became "less effective" as a person. HAHA... After a few more months, my gulit kicked in and I became "more effective" again and this become a cycle. This is a torturous cycle because of the 'guilt' part and emotional strain I'm giving to myself. I guess I need to reread the part on personal vision and personal leadership to get my act together.

This is also one of the reason for me to write this blog. To :
A) Stay FOCUS and don't become LAZY on applying the principles learned
B) Remember the lesson I learn from self-help books and apply it diligently

Therefore, the answer to the above question is : "it helps if you apply it!"

Now I am going to read the book complied by a motivational speaker. Her name is Wendy Kwek. The blog is www.wendykwek.com. A note: I am getting no credit for mentioning her.
The list is :
1)The Little Book on Value Investing
2) Influence - The power of persuasive influence - Robert Ciadini
3) Power of Now - Ekhart Tolle
4) How to Heal Your Life
5) Automatic Millionaire
6) Science of getting Rich
7) Secrets of Millionaire Mind - Harv Eker
8) The Richest Man in Babylon
9) The courage to be Rich - Suze Orman
10) The One Minute Millionaire - Robert Allen, Mark Victor Hansen

I am going to buy these books and read it. That is part of my 2008 resolution! 1 book per month and the principles will be written down and the effects of applying this principle will be written down as well.

That is all for today. Tomorrow better buy one of the book.
